They/Them is a celebration of self-discovery, transformation, and the courage to live as one's authentic truth. Dedicated to the transgender and non-binary community, this work explores the idea that identity is not something fixed, but something continually unfolding, an evolution of the spirit toward its truest form. At the center of the composition, a winged creature emerges in motion, inspired by the symbolism of rebirth. Much like a phoenix rising from its ashes, it represents the profound act of becoming: shedding expectations, limitations, and inherited definitions in order to embrace a deeper sense of self. The figure is neither bound by traditional categories nor confined by the perceptions of others. Instead, it exists in a space of freedom, transformation, and possibility. The colors woven throughout the work reference the transgender flag, serving as a visual acknowledgment of visibility, resilience, and pride. Soft blues, pinks, and luminous tones move through the painting like currents of energy, suggesting that identity, like nature itself, is fluid, vibrant, and alive. Created after Rising Phoenix, a work inspired by my own experiences of renewal and perseverance, They/Them expands the conversation beyond personal transformation into a collective one. It honors those who have found the strength to redefine themselves and to claim ownership of their own narrative. At its heart, this painting is a reminder that rebirth is not reserved for mythological creatures, it is a deeply human experience. We are all, in some way, becoming. And within that continual transformation lies the freedom to exist exactly as we are.
