The Triad | The Muscle, The Partner + The Centerpiece

The Triad plays with the roles we assume when we belong to something larger than ourselves. The Muscle, the Partner, and the Centerpiece each bring their own version of masculinity to the arrangement: strength, companionship, beauty, bravado, and a little mischief. Pearls, gloves, bows, bare skin, and brightly colored masks turn a rough, utilitarian space into something unexpectedly tender and theatrical. Like flowers gathered into a bouquet, none loses its individuality by being placed beside the others. The pleasure of the photograph is in their difference, and in the possibility that masculinity can hold far more than we have traditionally asked of it.
